Why did I choose to complete a residency?
I chose to pursue a residency because I wanted to continue my pharmacy education in a setting where I could expand and actively apply the clinical knowledge obtained from didactic and experiential learning. As a PGY-1 resident, I was exposed to multiple facets of pharmacy practice including the fast-paced and dynamic environment of emergency medicine. I immediately fell in love with the pharmacist’s role in the interdisciplinary teamwork to provide evidence-based patient care. I decided to pursue a PGY-2 residency in emergency medicine because I believe it will allow me to better serve as a patient advocate and resource for drug information to the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Why did I choose St. Joseph’s Hospital at BayCare?
I chose St. Joseph’s Hospital primarily because of the positive interactions I’ve had with previous residents and preceptors. I wanted to be in a program where inclusivity and resident support is focused as I continue to grow and develop professionally. Along with the strong community presence and reputation, St. Joseph’s Hospital Pharmacy department embodies a family-oriented environment where mutual respect and compassion are instilled not only to their patients, but proudly into their residents.
