Why did I choose to complete a residency?
I am driven to complete a health-system pharmacy administration and leadership (HSPA-L) focused residency program because it parallels my aspirations as a pharmacist. I have a desire to serve, a passion for leadership, and am eager to learn. An HSPA-L program will provide me with the clinical experiences to help build upon the foundational knowledge attained during pharmacy school. In turn, this will allow me to become a competent and confident practitioner. Also, this type of residency training will provide me with the managerial, operational and leadership experiences to help me develop into a to future leader in the healthcare setting.

There are many reasons as to why I chose St. Joseph’s Hospital – BayCare as my home for the next two years. When it comes to the field of pharmacy, I find that I am attracted to many different subspecialties within the profession. I was in search of a program that could provide a broad variety of rotational experiences to help me determine the specific area to specialize. With experiences in pediatrics, ambulatory care, cardiology and women’s health, St. Joseph’s Hospital fit these criteria perfectly. The culture and environment at St. Joseph’s hospital is one-of-a-kind. Every individual that I met through the recruitment process was welcoming, personable and transparent. Now being a part of the BayCare team, I continue to witness these qualities within each employee.
