Vicky Kang-Fisher

Why did I choose to complete a residency?
My true passion lies in direct patient care and empowering patients through education. My background in education has provided me with the ability to effectively communicate with others, while my education at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy afforded me the foundational knowledge and motivation to continue to challenge myself. I chose to complete a residency because I wanted to further develop my teaching skills to inspire others and collaborate with healthcare providers to offer quality patient care through PGY1 training. As a lifelong learner, I would like to pursue specialized training in infectious diseases upon completion of a PGY1 residency.

Why did I choose St. Joseph’s at BayCare?
I spent 4 months at St. Joseph’s Hospital during my APPE rotations and I had a wonderful experience working with the preceptors and residents. The preceptors I had the privilege of working with were conscious of students’ and residents’ background knowledge and learning styles. They were mindful of students’ and residents’ short- and long-term goals in their didactic method, and how they could assist in achieving these goals. This type of support from the preceptors is very important to me and that is the main reason why I chose St. Joseph’s at BayCare.
