Why did I choose to complete a residency?
I chose to pursue a pharmacy residency to enhance my clinical skills and grow into a clinical pharmacist who delivers the highest standard of patient care. My passion for pharmacy and patient care stems from a promise I made to my grandmother after she experienced a significant medical event. I promised her I would dedicate my career to preventing similar situations to other families. Completing a residency will allow me to deepen my clinical knowledge, strengthen my critical thinking, and develop leadership skills essential for working within interdisciplinary teams. This next step is not only about becoming a well-rounded clinical pharmacist, but also about fulfilling the promise I made to serve others through compassionate, evidence-based care.
Why did I choose St. Joseph’s Hospital North at BayCare?
I chose St. Joseph’s Hospital North because I knew this was the residency program that would make me stand out as a clinical pharmacist and support me along the way. I completed my pharmacy internship at this site and stood out during my APPE rotations because of the training I had already received from working at SJN. Since this program shaped me into a strong student, I knew it would make me an even stronger resident and clinical pharmacist. Additionally, while I was on rotations at SJN the physicians and nurses went above and beyond to share unique learning experiences. This highlighted how everyone at St. Joseph’s Hospital North is committed to teamwork and continuous learning. These experiences reaffirmed my decision to complete a residency at such a wonderful organization.
