Why did I choose to complete a PGY2 residency?
During my PGY-1, I grew tremendously as a newly licensed pharmacist. Though challenging, the experiences I gained were highly rewarding, fostering confidence in myself and my abilities. My decision to complete a PGY-2 in pediatrics was a result of several factors. As someone with many interests, it would allow me to gain further training in a specialized population with a vast array of conditions and subspecialties. Pursuing pediatrics also allows the unique opportunity to care for patients in different stages of life, from neonate to adolescent. Additionally, being able to help these vulnerable but resilient patients and their families get through some of the most difficult times of their lives is truly a rewarding experience. Ever since my pediatric APPE elective rotation, I knew pediatrics would be my dream specialty.

Why did I choose St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital at BayCare?
The program’s well-rounded core rotations and broad range of electives is what led me to apply to the pediatric residency program at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital. The wellness curriculum is also a unique component that piqued my interest because it allows for the residents to further bond with each other outside of work. While these factors did play a large influence in my decision, what ultimately fueled my desire to join the team at St. Joseph’s is the people. After meeting everyone and learning more about the program, I knew that I would be thoroughly supported in my journey to becoming a pediatric pharmacist.
