Why did I choose to complete a residency?
There are several reasons I chose to pursue a pharmacy residency, all of them centering around growth, confidence and patient care. I want to strengthen my ability to make independent pharmacotherapy recommendations, continue to develop my evidence-based reasoning and build an overall strong foundation in direct patient care. Residency provides these opportunities through mentorship, teaching and hands-on experience. It will allow me to apply evidence-based medicine while gaining confidence in my clinical-decision making. Residency will also provide valuable exposure to research and presenting to interdisciplinary teams.
Why did I choose Morton Plant Hospital at BayCare?
When looking for potential residency programs, Morton Plant quickly stood out to me with its emphasis on patient safety and interdisciplinary collaboration. During my interview, everyone was so welcoming and approachable. I knew this was a place that I would be able to grow both as a person and new professional. Morton Plant also has multiple critical care units, which will allow many opportunities to manage complex patients and grow my confidence in my clinical skills while also exploring areas that I am interested in. I know Morton Plant will provide me with the skills I need to achieve my long-term goals.
