Why did I choose to complete a residency?
Since first being exposed to emergency medicine in pharmacy school, I was instantly intrigued by the fast-paced, dynamic environment, multidisciplinary approach to patient care, and the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with complex disease states. I chose to pursue a residency in emergency medicine to continue to enhance my clinical skill set, prepare for the unexpected, and become a more well-rounded emergency medicine pharmacist. Emergency medicine is challenging, but equally fulfilling, which ultimately drives my passion for improving outcomes of acute, critically ill patients within the emergency department.

Why did I choose St. Joseph’s Hospital at BayCare?
I chose to pursue a PGY-2 at St. Joseph’s hospital for a variety of reasons. For one, there is a strong collaborative relationship between the pharmacists and physicians, which provides an array of learning opportunities alongside skilled ER clinicians. There are a variety of rotation options which provide a comprehensive learning experience, allowing me to gain exposure in different areas of emergency medicine. This residency program is also committed to fostering a supportive environment that ensures I can thrive both personally and professionally. Additionally, the challenging nature of the program promises to enhance my capabilities and prepare me to excel in a high-pressure environment while providing the best patient care possible.
