Why did I choose to complete a residency?
I chose to complete a residency to build a stronger foundation in my clinical skills before I pursue a career in health-system pharmacy administration. Through pharmacy school, I found a passion for advocacy and leadership, and through my rotations I saw how much people appreciate leaders who have walked in their shoes and can really understand the nuances of their perspectives. From this, I saw that a residency offers the ideal environment to bridge clinical pharmacy practice with my interests in administration and leadership, which will develop me into this leader that I saw people wish for.
Why did I choose St. Joseph’s Hospital at BayCare?
I chose St. Joseph’s Hospital at BayCare mainly because their core values aligned with my own. Most notably, their emphasis on respect was something I found commendable and relatable to not only as a pharmacist, but as a human as well. Along with this, the number of people I met that had been at the hospital for decades was nothing short of impressive and indicative of the culture that they breed here. After interviewing for the HSPAL residency, I realized that this place would be environment to cultivate my leadership skills and build strong long-lasting relationships, all while contributing to a highly respected and recognized health-system.
